Jingle Bells and Ho!Ho!Ho!

It's official! The holiday season is upon us! One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the music!
I've always enjoyed being in choirs and singing in church during this time of year...there is just something really magical about it.
But, the little ones in your life may not have the vocab for O Holy Night or the Hallelujah chorus.

So, I've compiled a list of my favorite child-friendly, holiday songs.
Maybe after a couple teaching sessions with some of these you'll be relieved of Jingle Bells on repeat.(Not that Jingle Bells isn't good too....you get what I mean...)
I've included YouTube links so you can hear them if you're not familiar. I've tried to mix traditional Christmas with winter along with songs for very little and more advanced singers.

1. Up On the Housetop- who doesn't love a little "Ho!Ho!Ho!" and the clicking of reindeer hooves?
2. Away in a Manger- simple, sweet and pretty little melody that conveys what Christmas is all about.
3. Deck the Halls - even if the rest of the words escape us, the "Fa la la's" are always fun!
4. Angels We Have Heard on High- again, the rest of the words may be tricky but kids can really belt out the "Gloooooria!"
5. Do You Hear What I Hear?- I love the storytelling aspect and it's great for incorporating senses and actions.
6. We Wish You a Merry Christmas- you're never too young to spread a little cheer!
7. Come On Ring Those Bells- a less well known cheery song great for little bell ringers.
8. Suzy Snowflake- less Christmas, more Winter oriented, simple and easy to include actions.
9. I'm a Little Snowman- another fun Winter song, great for describing and labeling.
10 S-A-N-T-A- a cute holiday version of B-I-N-G-O for young letter-learners.

I'd love to know your favorites and what you would add to the list!
