Why I Can't Wait to Try Zumbini (and I think you should too!)
I could barely contain my excitement when I found out The Seventeenth Radish was going to be hosting a Zumbini class!
I have been a long-time fan of the "grown up version" of Zumba since trying it for the first time about 6 years ago. The Zumba slogan is "Ditch the workout. Join the party." and every class I have attended has made me feel like I was doing just that. I took a class during my 2nd trimester of pregnancy and found it a great way to stay active and healthy. I'm convinced the peppy movements and Latin beats are part of why Brady now has such a love of music and impeccable rhythm. Just kidding (sort of). I've had such fun experiences with Zumba myself, naturally, I'm very excited to try it with my little one.
The Zumba website describes the class this way:
"Designed to let adults and their little ones 0 to 3 years old wiggle, sing and learn together, the Zumbini program is where the science of child development meets the magic of Zumba- for the ultimate bonding experience! Classes feature cool Zumba music packed with world rhythms and catchy, kid-friendly tunes created just for this program."
Sounds fun to me! But in addition to being fun, Zumbini and other music and movement programs have phenomenal learning and development benefits. Here are some of the skills that are developed:
1. Social skills/group participation
2. Expressing emotions
3. Appreciation of other cultures
4. Self concept
5. Listening skills with changes in tempo/pitch
6. Body awareness
7. Creativity
8. Learning new words and concepts
9. Balance and coordination
10. Large and fine motor skills
If that isn't enough to convince you to get out and try a Zumbini class, I also found this great video segment from Good Morning America that shows a class in action!

I know I can't wait to "ditch the workout and join the party" with our little guy.
Class at The Seventeenth Radish is scheduled at 4pm on Wednesdays.
See you there!
